Comet 46P - Wirtanen

Comet 46P is named after Carl Wirtanen who discovered in 1948 at Lick Observatory. 46P orbits the sun every 5.4 years. It will be closest to the earth on Dec 16, 2018. The 16-second video was made from 160 32-sec subs that were processed by PixInsight and assembled in Adobe Premier Pro. Unfortunately, the 1st quarter moon and genrally poor seeing conditions resulted in very low signal to noise. The flash in the middle is from an airplane fly-by (my lucky day).  Images captured with Sky-Watcher Esprit 120ED telescope and Celestron Nightscape 8300C camera on Dec 16, 2018.
